The Emirates Poules d’Essai

WHERE IT ALL STARTS!

The Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains is the first Group 1 race of the year for three-year-old colts over a distance of one mile.

The French equivalent to England’s 2,000 Guineas, the race is the first major test for the new generation.

A decisive race in terms of its ability to shape the season, it provides an indication as to whether the participants can move up to a mile and two and a half furlongs at the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club or stay at this distance.

A landmark event in the early stages of the season, it is the first chapter in a story that will run until October.

 

Edition 2023 :

Marhaba Ya Sanafi clinched an impressive victory in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains 2023, ahead of Isaac Shelby and Breizh Sky. This win will go down in history as the first Group 1 victory in France for trainer Andreas Schutz.

THE FIRST BIG TEST OF THE SEASON

A key pointer ahead of the Prix de Diane Longines, the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches is open to three-year-old fillies and run over a mile.

The first major test of the season, it is a race that shapes what comes next.
Only 25 winners of the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches have kicked on to win the Prix de Diane Longines and become the queens of their generation.

Edition 2023 :

Blue Rose Cen, ridden by jockey Aurélien Lemaitre, ran away with the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, with an all-French podium completed by Lindy and Sauterne. Trained by the young Christopher Head at Chantilly, who comes from an illustrious racing family, Blue Rose Cen is owned and bred by Yeguada Centurion, the stable of entrepreneur Leopoldo Fernández Pujals

The day's schedule

Come and cheer on the colts and fillies of the future! Held in the majestic setting of ParisLongchamp racecourse, the Emirates Poules d’Essai showcases flat racing’s future grand champions.

  • 12pm

    The doors open. You’ll final all your children’s favourite rides and activities and a wonderful day’s racing to enjoy.
    Head to the food garden for some great food and drink.

  • 13pm

    And they’re off in the first race of the day!
    Races take place every 30 minutes.

  • 3pm

    Time for your children to parade around the paddock with the jockeys.
    And time also for the main events of the day, with the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains and the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches. You can take a close look at the champions of tomorrow in the paddock.

  • 4pm

    Everyone on the track for the kids’ race!
    And if you’re looking for something sweet to chew on, you’ll be spoilt for choice: pancakes, waffles, candy floss, sweets… The list goes on.
    Head to the food garden.

  • 7pm

    Activities and rides end.

  • 7.30pm

    The racecourse closes its doors.

Wide open green spaces, event and activities and a day of discovery!

A lovely introduction to pony riding!

To discover the world of horses, what could be better than the gentle and patient nature of ponies? Treat your children to a lovely first experience learning about our four-hooved friends, as they stroke them and go for a little ride.

Rides are free and unlimited!

Choose your horse and you’re off!

Hop on the merry-go-round for a magical ride on our beautiful carrousel horses. A sure-fire hit with young racegoers, this attraction is free of charge and children can ride as many times as they like.

Admire the champions from up close!

To make their day at the races even more exciting, children are invited to join the jockeys in the parade ring. A fantastic way to experience the thrill of the spectators’ applause alongside their favourite jockeys. Pure emotion guaranteed!

Get your children running along the hallowed turf in our kids’ running race! An unforgettable, fun-filled experience that will see the fastest runners go home with some great prizes.

These new-generation rocking horses take children on a magical ride! A safe introduction to horse riding, to set them on the path to becoming real jockeys.

A fun way to learn about racing!

On your marks, get set, go! Jump on an inflatable pony and take part in our PonyHop Race, which enables your children to develop their balance, coordination and stamina. A perfect introduction to life as a jockey!

Get investigating as a family!

Grab a booklet and embark on a treasure hunt that takes you on a tour of the racecourse! With its racing-themed games, this mission requires all of your family’s investigation skills to solve the puzzle.

A 45 to 50-minute adventure for parents and children!

A fun outdoor activity for kids!

With our bouncy castles, your children can jump, run and roll to their hearts’ content! We pull out all the stops to provide your children with plenty of opportunities to play and relax at the racecourse.

Step into a jockey’s stirrups!

With our hobby horse races, your children can emulate the jockeys themselves! This activity will be a sure-fire hit with our younger racegoers. It is an ideal way to develop their imagination and coordination in a safe way.

Place your children at the heart of the action by entering them in our sack race! Held on the racecourse itself, this sporting activity promises plenty of laughter and fun. Give it a try, either before or after you watch the horses race along the turf.

As ParisLongchamp racecourse is located on the route of a busy cycle path, please be careful when approaching the racecourse.

Increased security checks may be carried out on race days.
Pushchairs are welcome.
For safety reasons, pets are not permitted on the racecourse, even on a lead.

A FREE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE RUNS FROM 12 NOON TO 6.45PM.

Free shuttle bus service from Porte Maillot and Porte d’Auteuil: first bus at 12 noon, then approximately every 20 minutes.

Shuttles back to Porte Maillot and Porte d’Auteuil: last bus leaves the racecourse at 6.45pm.
